Shi & Harumoto group (Physical metallurgy group)
-- A research group of Dept. of MSE, Tokyo Institute of Technology
We are exploring physical properties, such as magnetic, electrical, and hydrogenation properties, of metals and alloys.
Brief introduction of our group
- Background
- Physical metallurgy and Diffraction crystallography
- Current interests
- Magnetic thin films and Hydrogen energy-related materials.
- Details can be found in Research and Equipment pages.
- Ratio of International students
- around 50%
History
- Mar. 1942
- Assoc. Prof. Oketani was invited from Tokyo University to Tokyo Institute
of Technology.
- Oketani gourp was established (our origin).
- 1965
- Oketani & Nagakura group (Physical metallurgy group).
- Imported technologies of electron diffraction and vacuum from France.
- 1974
- Nagakura & Nittono group. Expanded our research area into diffraction crystallography and thin-film.
- 1993
- Nittono & Nakamura group. Using 1000 kV TEM, researched Fe-C steel and other alloys.
- 2004
- Nakamura & Shi group. Intensively researched on perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) films and exchange bias.
- 2024
- Shi & Harumoto group. Expanded our research area into metal hydride and hydrogen gas (H2) sensors.
