Introduction

Shi & Harumoto group (Physical metallurgy group)

-- A research group of Dept. of MSE, Tokyo Institute of Technology

We are exploring physical properties, such as magnetic, electrical, and hydrogenation properties, of metals and alloys.

History

Mar. 1942
Assoc. Prof. Oketani was invited from Tokyo University to Tokyo Institute of Technology.
Oketani gourp was established (our origin).
1965
Oketani & Nagakura group (Physical metallurgy group).
Imported technologies of electron diffraction and vacuum from France.
1974
Nagakura & Nittono group. Expanded our research area into diffraction crystallography and thin-film.
1993
Nittono & Nakamura group. Using 1000 kV TEM, researched Fe-C steel and other alloys.
2004
Nakamura & Shi group. Intensively researched on perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) films and exchange bias.
2024
Shi & Harumoto group. Expanded our research area into metal hydride and hydrogen gas (H2) sensors.
